Discovery Global today announced the appointment of Adrienne O’Hara as EVP, Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer, effective January 7, 2026. In the newly created role, O’Hara will report to Gunnar Wiedenfels, President and CEO of Discovery Global, and will lead all global communications and public affairs for the company as it prepares to operate as an independent, publicly traded organization following the planned separation from Warner Bros. Discovery.
O’Hara brings 20 years of experience leading communications strategy for Fortune 500 companies through periods of significant transformation to drive enterprise value and growth. She will be responsible for corporate, financial, employee, executive, brand and crisis communications, as well as public affairs and stakeholder engagement, during a pivotal period for Discovery Global. O’Hara’s appointment completes the leadership team for the new company.
“Adrienne is a proven leader with deep experience guiding iconic branded portfolios through transformation and change,” said Gunnar Wiedenfels, President and CEO of Discovery Global. “Her ability to translate strategy into clear, compelling narratives will be critical as we look to engage our investors, employees, partners and other stakeholders, building continued belief in Discovery Global’s incredible potential as a standalone company.”
O’Hara most recently served as Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Engagement at Gap Inc., where she led enterprise communications and multistakeholder engagement for the company’s more than $15 billion portfolio of iconic global brands since 2020. In that role, she supported the company’s strategic evolution, brand reinvigoration and global issues management—helping to strengthen market positioning, brand equity, and stakeholder confidence. Previously, O’Hara was Head of Communications for Old Navy, guiding communications during a period of accelerated growth, aligning employees, investors, and leadership around the brand’s strategic agenda.
“Discovery Global has an extraordinary portfolio of brands and a clear opportunity to redefine its market positioning, using communications to support growth and deepen cultural relevance,” said O’Hara. “I’m excited to partner with Gunnar and the entire global team to help shape the company’s narrative, elevate the employee experience, and increase brand impact as Discovery Global enters its next chapter.”
Earlier in O’Hara’s career, she spent more than a decade at Toys“R”Us, Inc. in senior communications roles, supporting large-scale restructuring, rebranding, acquisitions, and navigation of an evolving consumer and industry.
