Moscow, 22 November 2002. Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods OJSC today announced the acquisition of a 76% stake in Burynsky Milk Powder Factory OJSC (Sumy Region, Ukraine). The deal is worth approximately US$1.7 million and provides Wimm-Bill-Dann with its own milk powder facility in the strategic Ukrainian market. In order to further establish its presence in the Ukrainian market, the company concluded this transaction to ensure a steady supply of quality powdered and raw milk for its production facilities during seasonal drops in milk production. The Burynsky factory was built in 1974, and later underwent renovation in 1985. The factory specializing in producing milk powder is currently capable of processing 300 tons of milk daily and manufacturing 18 tons of butter and 9 tons of liquid dairy products per day. The factory presently employs 150 people.
